Claude Code usage and quota on Mac
Claude Code is the one client that can tell you how much of the current five-hour window a single session is using.

What you see
A session window, a weekly window across all models, and a weekly window per model family, each with its own reset time. The plan badge comes from your subscription, with Max refined to its 5× or 20× tier.
How the account is named
The account and organization the engine reports, labelled with the sign-in email. A login change between two readings discards that reading rather than mixing the two.
Running turns and completions
Both running turns and completions are detected. Sub-agent transcripts never start or finish a turn of their own.
What Agent HUD reads
The transcripts under the Claude projects folders, and the config file for your tier and account. It uses the engine's existing sign-in and reads nothing from the keychain; the reading itself sends no prompt and is never billed.
Common questions
- Why does Agent HUD show no quota for my Claude Code?
- An API-key login or a third-party gateway has no plan limits to read, so no window appears. A signed-out engine asks for a new sign-in, and the reason is named beside the account. Local activity and token counts still work either way.
- What does the session share mean?
- It is that session's share of the tokens in the running five-hour window, times how much of that window is used. Claude Code is the only client that can show it; everywhere else the figure is a dash.
