Hermes Agent usage on Mac
Hermes keeps its own tally of what each session spent, and Agent HUD reads that tally rather than the conversations.

What Agent HUD reads
The state databases, for sessions active in the last eight days. Nothing else in the Hermes home is scanned, and no credentials are read. Its counters are cumulative, so each one updates in place rather than adding up over time.
Common questions
- Why does Hermes show usage but no quota?
- Hermes records what was spent, not who paid for it or what the allowance is. Agent HUD will not infer a quota from token counts.
- What exactly is read?
- The session and per-model usage tables of the state databases, for sessions active in the last eight days. Conversation contents are not read.
