DeepSeek Harness balance and cost on Mac
DeepSeek is billed per request, so there is no quota window to run out of — there is a balance, and an estimate of what recent work cost.

What you see
No windows. Instead, your account balance in its own currency, and an estimated cost for recent usage. A balance turns to warning at 10 CNY or 2 USD and to critical at zero.
How the account is named
None. The balance belongs to the API account behind the configured key rather than to a named sign-in.
Running turns and completions
Both running turns and completions are detected.
What Agent HUD reads
The Harness session logs and its settings. The balance key is resolved by Harness's own credentials package inside a short-lived helper and never leaves it; a base URL other than the official one is reported as a custom endpoint and no request is made at all.
Common questions
- Why is the cost an estimate?
- It is priced per model from the official price list, doubled during peak hours — Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00 Beijing time. Models with no published price, and requests sent through another route, have no estimate rather than a zero.
- What happens if I point Harness at a different endpoint?
- Agent HUD reports a custom endpoint and makes no balance request. Your session logs and token counts are still read as usual.
